Centennial Park
Centennial Park is a green lung of the city that provides shades of green trees under the frozen shadow of skyscrapers. This urban park is located two miles west of downtown Nashville across West End Avenue from the campus of Vanderbilt University. Originally this park was used as farmland by some of the earliest families in Nashville and later become park after the American Civil War. Before developing, it was used as a racetrack in the last decade. It became the host ground of the Tennessee Centennial and International Exposition in 1897 and decorated with beautiful masterpieces. Afterward, most of the temporary exhibit structures were removed, but the replica of the Parthenon remained. Centennial Park was opened in 1903.
